On September 16, 2007, in the Landspeed Racing at El Mirage Dry Lake, CA , Keenan Tatro with the support of Bartels' Racing Team, broke the world record with the speed of 177.657 mph. Keenan Tatro exceeded the world record by 5 mph riding the Bartels' Landspeed Sportster built by Dave Rivera. This is the 4th World Record of Dave Rivera and Bartels' Racing Team.
The family of Bartels' Racing Team and Bartels' Harley-Davidson are very proud of Dave Rivera's expertise and dedication in building the Bartels' Landspeed Sportster. When he's not working on the racer bike, he works at Bartels' Harley-Davidson as one of the Master Mechanics in the Service Department for almost 18 years. David's passion in building bikes is unquestionable, the day before the race he was accidentally locked in the shop while working on the winning bike.
Bartels' Harley-Davidson would like to thank the effort of Bartels' Racing Team especially crazy Keith Kardell, who rode the bike for twelve years; Keenan Tatro, Earl Kellerman, Will Pfizenmair, Dave Rivera, the bike builder; and the continuing financial support of the owners Bill Bartels, Merle Bartels, and Forrest Nolin . Congratulations to Bartels' Racing Team! Keep breaking records!
