Background

 

The LiveWire is Harley-Davidson’s first electric motorcycle and it first rolled off their assembly lines in August 2019. The company has been hard at work on this design for several years, with their best engineers tasked with incorporating rider feedback, new technology and the latest designs into the new bike. Initial prototypes were released in 2014, with the company taking more time to fully flesh out the design in order to build the best possible electric bike they could.

 

Charging Options

 

Some types of electric bikes require you to have a dedicated charging station, and the LiveWire is equipped to recharge at a Level 3 DC Fast Charge station. However, the bike can also be connected via a typical                                                                                                       power cord to your household outlets in order to charge up overnight, giving you more options and more freedom!

 

Better Control 

 

In order to modulate rear torque and manage the anti-lock braking system, the new LiveWire motorcycle has an electronic chassis control system. This provides you with better handling, more traction and slip control so that you feel like you’re in charge of your bike, not the other way around.

Rapid Acceleration

 

Think that electric bikes can’t get up to speed fast enough to sate your craving? Think again! The LiveWire can jump from zero to 60 miles per hour in less than four seconds. Its permanent magnet electric motor                                                                                                     produces 100% of the bike’s rated torque once the throttle is twisted. In order to lower the bike’s center of gravity, the motor is placed below the battery. This also helps to improve the bike’s handling so you can                                                                                                       control all that speed.

Modern Technology

 

The new LiveWire displays your speed, battery status and range on a full-color, high-definition display panel. You can customize the panel to show you more information, like music, alerts and navigation. The motorcycle also uses the H-D Connect service to allow you to hook your smartphone up to the bike. This lets you get updates via text about where your bike is, what charge it has left and whether anyone has tampered with it.
